I was being very meticulous, with three coats for certainty, as I wasn't sure if I was putting it on too thin for the first of two directed coats. I also sprayed, wiped and dried Windex at least twice on each surface prior to using the Rain-X.

I figure if I'm going to be out in the rain trying to watch for tornado signs, I want that water off my windshield.

I also discovered my windshield is very, very pitted. No cracks, but lots of tiny little pock marks.
